We’re looking for an experienced and passionate GraphQL Developer to join our growing team in Sydney. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in building high-performance APIs that connect the front and back ends of modern digital applications. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing GraphQL APIs that power our platforms, enabling seamless, scalable, and efficient data exchanges across our web and mobile products.
As a GraphQL Developer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including front-end developers, back-end engineers, product managers, and QA—to translate business needs into robust API solutions. Your work will directly impact the user experience by enabling fast, reliable, and secure access to application data.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement GraphQL schemas, queries, mutations, and resolvers for scalable data retrieval.
- Collaborate with internal teams to define API structures and ensure alignment with application requirements.
- Optimize API performance by reducing query overhead, improving caching, and minimizing response times.
- Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, latency issues, and integration problems in production environments.
- Apply security best practices to protect sensitive data in all API interactions.
- Maintain clear documentation of schemas and API logic to support internal teams and stakeholders.
- Keep up to date with emerging trends and tools in GraphQL, server-side frameworks, and modern API architecture.
- Participate in code reviews, contribute to technical discussions, and mentor junior developers when needed.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience in development.
- Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining GraphQL APIs in production environments.
- In-depth understanding of GraphQL query language, schema design, and resolver logic.
- Familiarity with GraphQL server tools and ecosystems such as Apollo Server, Prisma, or Hasura.
- Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, and experience with modern frameworks like Node.js or Express.
- Solid grasp of REST APIs, API versioning, and backend integration.
- Experience with source control tools such as Git, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to thrive in an agile, fast-paced, and collaborative development environment.
