Delivery Centric is seeking an experienced Lead PL/I Development Consultant to provide hands-on technical leadership across a complex IBM Mainframe environment. The role focuses on PL/I development, solution design, troubleshooting, performance tuning and code review, supporting critical applications and modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical analysis and solution design for complex PL/I application changes.
- Provide hands-on PL/I development for critical and high-risk components.
- Analyze, enhance and maintain large and complex PL/I codebases.
- Troubleshoot application and performance issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Lead technical discussions, design decisions and code reviews.
- Identify technical risks and provide practical recommendations.
- Support estimation, planning, testing and implementation activities.
- Mentor team members and share PL/I and mainframe development best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development standards and processes.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in PL/I development on IBM Mainframe platforms.
- 20+ years of mainframe application development experience preferred.
- Strong experience in PL/I application design, development, testing, implementation and performance tuning.
- Strong hands-on experience with VSAM and IBM MQ.
- Proven ability to work with large and complex legacy applications.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience providing technical leadership, conducting code reviews and guiding development teams.
- Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with Db2.
- Knowledge of CICS and high-volume transaction processing environments.
- Experience in banking, insurance or other regulated industries.
- Understanding of batch processing, reconciliation and financial systems.
- Experience supporting application modernization or legacy migration initiatives.
- Familiarity with mainframe monitoring and diagnostic tools.
